Poetry Packet Comments

Comments :

Poem Titled Preference - Kind of funny that "Daddy" doesn't like young girls because they allways say "gimmie, and they want so-and-so". Yet his preference for older women is based on the full-fillment of his personal unspoken "gimmie request".

Poem Titled What Is The Shape of Your Body ?

This sounds like someone with a very poor body image, coupled with hurt inflicted by a man. First the writer questions whether or not they are alive. After an affirmative yes, they say " I am stretched out like the arms of a Hindu effigy." Ugh ! An effigy is a crude figure that represents a hated person "Sometimes, I'm scared I won't feel a damn thing". In the poem they've stretched their body out as a net for a man. (For that matter why provide the man your body) But I guess if the man has to be in your life.... let your body be a net and the man will be water as the writer suggest.

Mother To Son

In love you were formed

For love you will live

Through loving you learn to give

By giving you heal

For every self-less act an angel you create

Manifestations of love

Destroyers of hate
